The LAUNCH X431 PAD V ELITE (with HD Package) tool supports truck engine condition monitoring, which helps diagnose abnormal engine operating conditions. This article will use a 2018 Foton Aumark as an example to illustrate how to operate it.
Function Description: This Feature Is Used To Monitor The Current Operating State That Is Controlling The Engine Operation. Any Active Engine Derates Can Be Identified Using This State Monitor.

Operating procedures:
1) Connect SmartLink to the vehicle’s OBD port, open the diagnostic software on the X431 PAD V, and select [Local Diagnose] -> [Foton].
2) Manually select vehicle type: [Select Vehicle Type] -> [Conventional Energy] -> [M4 (Light Truck)] -> [Auto Scan].
3) Select [Smart Detection] in the topology map interface.
4) Switch to the [System List] tab and click [Enter] to enter the engine system.
5) Select [Actuation Test] -> [Engine State Monitor].
6) The engine should be running when using the Engine State Monitor function. If you select the [Engine State Monitor] function without starting the engine, you will see the following message: “Engine Allowed Status: Engine Stop“.
NOTE: This Is A Normal State When The Key Switch Is On And The Engine Is Not Running.
7) Now return to the function menu, start the engine and enter again. Click [Engine State Monitor] again, and you will see the status message change to: “Engine Allowed Status: Low Speed Governor State“.
NOTE: The Engine Is Currently Idling On The Low Speed Governor. The Throttle Pedal Is Released, The Vehicle Is Stationary, And The Engine Is Idling.
The engine of the vehicle tested was functioning normally, so no abnormal status information was displayed. If you suspect a malfunction in your vehicle’s engine, this procedure can help you detect any abnormalities promptly and have them repaired as soon as possible.
