After installing a new fuel metering valve, it is necessary to reset the values of this component in the vehicle powertrain control module (PCM), which can be done using the LAUNCH X431 diagnostic tool. This article will describe how to reset the learned values of the 2021 Ford Everest fuel metering valve using the LAUNCH X431 PAD9.
Function Description:
This function is used after installing a new fuel metering valve to clear the basic learned values stored in the PCM and write the new component’s basic values into the PCM memory.
Tested Model: Ford – Everest – 2021
Supported Equipment: LAUNCH X431 PRO series, X431 PRO3 series, X431 PRO5, and X431 PAD series. The current one for Demo is X431 PAD9.
Operation Procedure:
1) Connect the X431 tool to the vehicle’s OBD port. Open the X-431 APP, click [Local Diagnose] -> [FORD]. Software version V50.65 or higher is recommended.
2) Choose [Automatically Search] to identify car models automatically. Check the identified vehicle information, and click [OK] after confirming it is correct.
3) Enter the topology diagram interface, click [Smart Detection] to scan the entire vehicle systems.
4) Click [PCM] -> [ENTER] to enter the system. (PCM stands for “Powertrain Control Module”)
5) Click [Special Functions] -> [Reset The Fuel Metering Valve Learned Values]. By Following The Instructions, The New Component Base Value Will Be Written To The Powertrain Control Module(PCM) Memory.
NOTE: The Successful Storage Of The New Value Is Dependent On The Complete Power Down (Power Latch) Of The Module.
NOTE: To Keep The Power Latch Time To A Minimum, Close All Vehicle Doors.
6) Follow the prompts to operate:
– Ignition status: Ignition on, engine off. Click OK.
– Ignition status: Ignition off. Click OK.
– Clearing Learnt Values. Click OK.
– Wait for the module to power down (about 20 seconds).
– Ignition status: Ignition on, engine off. Click OK.
– Ignition status: Ignition off. Click OK.
7) Service reset is completed. Click OK to exit.
