This guide will show you how to use the LAUNCH X431 PAD V ELITE to reset the impact event fault for a 2020 CHRYSLER Renegade (BV). This procedure will reset the impact event fault in the BPCM (Battery Pack Control Module) and is required to clear DTC P167B-00.
Function description:
Reset impact event fault for CHRYSLER Renegade (BV). Performing this function requires purchasing an FCA SGW license. Please refer to the following for information on how to purchase and register for FCA SGW: LAUNCH X431 FCA SGW Activation Guide (2025 Update).
Supported equipment: LAUNCH X431 PRO series, X431 PAD series.
Current equipment: LAUNCH X431 PAD V ELITE
Tested model: CHRYSLER/2020/Renegade(BV), VIN: 1C4BU0001LP0*****
Operating procedures:
1. Connect to vehicle and operate on X431 PAD V ELITE. Choose [Local Diagnose] and then [CHRYSLER] to test. (CHRYSLER/ JEEP/ DODGE software version V34.85 and above)

2. Click [16 PIN Connector] and choose [Automatically Search] to identify car models automatically.

3. It displays a prompt message indicating that the SGW needs to be unlocked. (Please Keep The Network Connection And Login Normal. Otherwise, The Data May Be Inaccurate.)


4. Choose a region and enter your FCA account (in this example, we choose North America). Wait until you see the message “SGW (Security Gateway) Has Been Unlocked Successfully” before proceeding to the next step.


5. On the X431 PAD V ELITE, click [Smart Detection] to scan the entire vehicle systems.

6. Click [BPCM (Battery Pack Control Module)] to access the system.


7. Click [Special Function] -> [Reset Impact Event Fault].

8. Read the instructions, and click OK.


9. Follow the instructions: Cycle the ignition to the run position and select OK.

10. Follow the instructions: Cycle Ignition To Off Position, Wait 5 Seconds And Cycle Ignition To Run. Select OK.

11. The device displayed the message “Reset Has Completed Successfully,” indicating that the operations are complete.
