Some 2024MY Audi and VW vehicles are equipped with a diagnostic firewall. When the firewall is activated, “Control Unit Matching”, “Basic Settings”, Coding and other functions cannot be performed. When you use the LAUNCH X431 diagnostic tool to diagnose these vehicles, you need to deactivate the diagnostic firewall before performing related functions.
How to deactivate VW/Audi diagnostic firewall using LAUNCH X431 tool?
Procedure:
1. Turn on the ignition switch, connect to the diagnostic connector, and choose VW V29.05 or a later version.
2. Choose [Full Systems List] or other main menus.
3. If the diagnostic firewall is active, the following prompt information will appear.
4. Click [Deactivate Diagnostic Firewall] to first execute the SFD (Vehicle Diagnostic Protection) activation function of the 19 system.
5. At this time, the SFD is in the locked status. Choose [Manual SFD Activation].
6. Next, click [Share Data]. There are three share ways. Here we use the server mode to share and obtain data.
7. Choose the [Server] option, share the data of [Unlock Request Structure] to the server, click OK, and then scan the QR code with WeChat/ Alipay on your phone, or input the website address on the web browser of your phone or computer to access the data sharing page.
8. The data sharing page opened on the phone or computer is as follows.
9. Copy the data of [Unlock Request Structure], send it to a third party (Taobao seller, etc.) for calculation, paste the calculated SFD token value in the [SFD Token] box, and then submit the token data until a success message is displayed, as shown in the figure below.
10.Next, choose [SFD Token] in the diagnostic device, and then choose the [Server] option from the [Get Data] button to obtain the SFD token data submitted in the previous step.
11. After obtaining the SFD token data, click [Activate Control Unit] to unlock. An unlocking success message is displayed, as shown in the figure below.
12. After successful unlocking, click OK, and then click the back icon. The diagnostic firewall will be automatically deactivated and enter the system list.
13. Then, access [19 Data Bus OBD Interface] to check whether the diagnostic firewall is successfully deactivated.
14. Then, choose [10 Adaptation] and choose [Diagnostic Filter Temporary Deactivation].
15.If the current value of [Diagnostic Filter Temporary Deactivation] is [Active] (as shown in the figure below), it indicates that the diagnostic firewall has been deactivated. You can return to the menu to perform the corresponding diagnostic function.
16.If the current value of [Diagnostic Filter Temporary Deactivation] is [Not Active], you need to manually change the matching value. First click the line below [Please Input A New Value] and then choose [Not Active].
17. Then, click [Save]. The current value of [Diagnostic Filter Temporary Deactivation] changes to [Active]. The diagnostic firewall deactivation procedure is completed. You can return to the menu to perform the corresponding diagnostic function.
