For 2024 BMW X1, after replacing the EPS(Electric Power Steering), it is necessary to use this special function to perform the start-up of the EPS system. Here’s using Launch X431 PAD V Elite to perform on 2024 BMW U12 Chassis for example.
How to do 2024 BMW EPS Start-Up?
- Turn on the vehilce ignition switch, connect the X431 PAD5 diagnostic connector, and choose BMW V51.50 or later version.
- Choose [Automaticlaly Search] and read veicle information. Choose [NEXT]. Then choose [Special Function].
- Choose [Chassis].
- Choose [EPS: Steering Start-Up], click [Continue].
- Choose [F2].
- The Electronic Power Steering(EPS) was reset to the default condition. Click [Continue].
- The brake must not be actuated during the start-up!
Start position of the steering wheel: approximately 30 degrees to the right!
The standard start-up is started in next step!
Click [Continue].
- Operate as prompted and click [Continue].
Standard start-up has now been enabled. The steering assistance is active!
Carry out the following steering wheel movement:
Slowly turn the steering wheel to the left to the end stop.
Press the steering wheel with moderate effort in the end stop to beyond the point of resistance until a ready message is displayed.
Steer slowly(less than 1 steering wheel turn/s)! Do Not operate brakes!
The steering wheel movements required for start-up are now completed!
The standard start-up is automatically continued!
- Turn the steering wheel according to the previous step prompt. It automatically jumps to the next step when the conditions are met.
Important prerequisites for the next start-up step:
The steering wheel must be horizontal(optically straight)!
Front wheel must be aligned’s traight ahead!
Do not place hands onto the steering wheel and do not hold the steering wheel!
Corrections at the steering wheel can still be carried out!
If all the conditions are met, continue the standard start-up!
- Operate as prompted and click [Continue].
Determination of the necessary system parameters for the function of the electromechanical power steering was completed.
The Electronic Power Steering(EPS) was successfully put into operation!
Next, the EPS Fault Memory will be deleted!
- Cilck [Continue].
Fault memory of the electronic power steering has been deleted.
Synchronise the steering angle data with the following control unit from the system network to complete the standard start-up: Virtual Integration Platform(VIP)
Synchronisation ends with an automatic terminal change!
If the automatic terminal change is active, then carry out an operation on the vehicle only if requested by the service function!
